IT ALL went swimmingly for Tom Doherty as he landed two stunning common carps at Alvechurch Fisheries.

The regular visiting angler’s captures weighed in at 20 lbs and 21.8 lbs respectively after a superb afternoon on the Arrow Specimen Carp Lake.

Two pristine Ghost Carp 16 lbs and 17 lbs were also recorded as fishermen banked a number of big doubles last weekend.

There was also success for Alvechurch sponsored Les Ayres who won the Colmic Lake Open off peg one after netting 88lbs 4oz.

He fished pole and banded pellet up to the reeds and switched late down the margin to boost his winning weight with stockies up to 3lbs and a mixed bag of silvers.

Close by was Lee Davies (peg 3) who alternated long pole and pellet across and down the track to net 78lbs 6oz. This just edged out Darren Beach (peg 26) who also fished long pole across to the island for a mixed bag of 76lbs 2oz.

Steve Bellion (peg 25) finished fourth with 68lbs 7oz after fishing two tactics pole and pellet down the track and late down the margin for stockies and silvers.

Trevor Hodges (peg 10) fished similar tactics for 63lbs 14oz, while Ross Hartley (peg 14) netted a mixed bag for 62lbs 12oz.
