Carp catch helps Bellion to first place

A VERSATILE caster and worm attack with pole and waggler tactics saw Steve Bellion register his second Saturday Open win at Alvechurch Fisheries.

Off peg 11, Bellion fished up to the rushes over a number of swims to net a number of carp up to 9lbs to boost his mixed bag of stockies for 86lbs 10oz.

Newcomer Shane Whittaker was his nearest challenger fishing 16 mts pole and maggot off road peg 35 to also include carp up to 8lbs and a mixed net of stockies for 78lbs 8oz.

Gary Clarke weighed in with 63lbs to clinch third spot after fishing pole and pellet off peg 24 rotating two lines at 11 mts and 6 mts for carp and stockies.




Only one fish behind was Sammy Round (peg 28) who fished the pellet feeder up to the island for his mixed net 62lbs 9oz to just hold off Warren Beach (peg 7) who rotated pole and waggler and maggot tactics for 62lbs 2oz.

Meanwhile, Paul Gartshore (peg 24) won the Thursday Open as he fished pole and maggot on the deck at 14 mts rotating a number of swims for his mixed catch of carp and stockies for 60lbs 1oz.


In second place was Ron Taylor (peg 7) who fished long pole out in front over a number of lines for his mixed bag of stockies and silvers for 55lbs 14oz.

Danny Tresigne (peg 5) secured a place in the top three with 43lbs 3oz, while Tony Sheriff (peg 32) finished fourth after fishing the pellet feeder out in front for his mixed bag 23lbs 1oz.
