Bromsgrove sisters help RGS Worcester become National Champions

BROMSGROVE sisters Lauren and Evie Beardsley helped the RGS Worcester Under-16 Rounders team conclude an undefeated season by becoming the England National Champions at Leicester University.

The team’s performances throughout the championships was impressive as RGS won their four group games before progressing through the quarter- and semi-finals to reach the final.

Against a very strong team from Manchester High School, Lauren, Evie and the rest of the squad ensured it was RGS who were crowned National Champions.

The girls’ composed performance saw them skittle Manchester out from 19 balls with five runs on the board and in their response, it took all of 16 balls for RGS to exceed the score and claim the win.




The girls were awarded medals and a golden bat in a ceremony at the end of the day.

Cia Swingler, head of girls games at RGS Worcester, said: “It has been an excellent season for the under-16 rounders team and I would like to congratulate all of the girls on their success, which is a culmination of a huge amount dedication and hard work.”


RGS headteacher John Pitt added: “Many congratulations to the girls and the coaches for this superb achievement. I know they are delighted to be National Champions.”
