THE EVENTS at this year’s new-look Bromsgrove Festival continue to come in abundance, with a demonstration, illustrated talk, concerts, a poetry slam and the annual carnival, all in the next week.
Avoncroft Young Embroiderers will be at Bromsgrove Library from 10am tomorrow (Saturday) showcasing some of the work done by members.
There will also be a simple piece of embroidery done as a demonstration.
Everyone is welcome to go along, see the work, have a go at stitching, and find out more about the group.
There will be a Summer Dance hosted by Avoncroft Folk Dance Group from 8pm to 11pm tomorrow (Saturday).
Playford, Modern English and American dance will all be on offer at the event which takes place at Avoncroft Arts Centre, Redditch Road.
Light refreshments, served in the interval, will be included in the ticket price of £7.

Worcestershire Youth Jazz Orchestra, which wowed the crowds at the Hanbury Fete a fortnight ago, will be performing a free concert in The Sanders Park Jubilee Bandstand on Sunday (July 8). It takes place between 2.30pm and 4.30pm.
On Monday (July 7), there will be an illustrated talk by Pat Tansell and Jean George depicting Bromsgrove Library in Three Chapters – the past, present and future objectives. It starts at 7.30pm at the library in Stratford Road.
Pat will talk about the historical highlights and Jean, the architect for the town’s new library, will present a fascinating insight into what the future holds. Tickets, which are free, and more information are available by emailing [email protected] or by calling 01905 822722.
North Bromsgrove High School hosts a Schools’ Music Day on Tuesday (July 8). All pupils who play an orchestral instrument are welcome to go along during the day to rehearse and a short evening concert will be presented on the evening at 7.30pm at Artrix.

The latest Acoustic Cafe will take place between 3pm and 5pm on Wednesday (July 9).
Bob Bignell from Bromsgrove Folk Club will host the event at Plaza Coffee in the town centre. Young and old musicians, singers and poets of any genre, along with those who just want to listen, will all be made very welcome.
The Worcestershire High Schools’ Poetry Slam will take place at Artrix at 7pm on Thursday (July 10).
Wars of words will be waged between the schools and the winners will receive a glistening trophy to celebrate their achievement.
It will be hosted by Spoz – aka Giovanni Esposito – a former Birmingham Poet Laureate.
