A GROUP of sharp shooters from Bromsgrove have set their sights on national glory after being crowned West Midlands’ Netball Champions.

Bromsgrove School’s u14s girls’ team swept through the group stages and comprehensively beat Newcastle-Under-Lyme School 12-1 in the semi-final.

They then came up against a George Salter Academy side who had proved tough opponents in the regional round of the National Schools Competition.

But Bromsgrove’s side, who were playing in their home arena, rose to the challenge as they claimed a 9-5 victory.

The competition, which is run by England Netball, is pitched as the biggest schools event in the netball calendar and Emma Buckingham, head of Girls’ PE and Games at the school said her side were now aiming to win the nationals in Liverpool.

“The U14s reigned supreme all afternoon,” she said. “look forward to them representing Bromsgrove School and the West Midlands region with honour and distinction.”
