THE 2023 Wychavon Parish Games started with a bang as 10 Parishes came together at Evesham Rowing Club to contest the bell boating event.

The bell boating, sponsored by Macolm Limrick, had always previously taken place in Pershore but made the move to Evesham this year.

Despite five teams pulling out, the event was an enjoyable occasion as each team took part in two races to determine whether they competed in A, B or C finals.

Both of last year’s finalists, Fladbury and runners-up Wyre Piddle, made the A final, as the latter parish triumphed in a time of 52 seconds with Evesham Bengeworth six seconds back in second place.

Eckington and Fladbury tied for third place with a time of exactly one minute with Wick fifth, Hill and Moor sixth, Norton and Lenchwick seventh, Sedgeberrow eighth, Broadway ninth and Pebworth 10th.

The next event is the rounders which takes place at Badsey Recreation Club on Sunday, July 2 followed by the the men’s five-a-side football on Sunday, July 9 also at Badsey.
