ALEX Milton’s unbeaten century proved to be in vain for hot-shots Bromsgrove, who stormed towards a 307-4 total before weather intervened to force the abandonment of their sole pre-season friendly against Himley.
The Boars were on form with their batting against their Birmingham & District Premier Division Two rivals, openers Connor Smith (36) and Jayden Levitt (62, lbw) putting on a stand of 110 before the latter fell for the first wicket.
Smith was dismissed shortly after his teammate, but the arrivals of Ashley Newfield (50 n.o) and Milton (124 n.o) to the crease soon took Bromsgrove closer to the 300-run mark – the pair both retiring with unbeaten totals after combining for 185 runs.
This decision proved a notable one, as middle-order duo Deon Patel (0) and Richard Kimberlin (2) both fell in quick succession before conditions worsened and ended proceedings at St. Godwald’s Park.
Bromsgrove now make the trip to division newcomers Pelsall on Saturday to kick-off their campaign.
