BROMSGROVE Para table-tennis athlete Craig Allen has been named in the GB Pathway squad for the upcoming French Para Open.
Allen is one of 13 British athletes competing at the SQY French Para Open in Saint Quentin en Yvellnes which takes place from November 9 to 11.
The 27-year-old competed at the ITTF Costa Brava Spanish Para Open in Platja d’Aro last month having only played in one tournament since March 2020 prior to his appearance in Spain.
His biggest success to date was winning gold in the men’s class 9 singles at the Romania International Junior Open in 2017.
Class 9 consists of athletes with mild impairments of the leg(s) or playing arm, or severe impairments of the non-playing arm, or mild cerebral palsy with hemiparesis or monoplegia.
Amongst those included in the squad are Fliss Pickard – who won gold in Spain last month – and four-time Paralympian Scott Robertson who returns to international competition for the first time since London 2012.
Also heading to France is Kim Daybell – who selflessly put his table tennis career on hold to work on the NHS frontline during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The action takes place between November 9-11 in Saint Quentin en Yvellnes.
