BROMSGROVE SWIMMING CLUB won 40 medals, including 14 gold, at the Worcestershire County Championships with three members becoming county champions.

The club won 14 gold, 16 silver and 10 bronze medals with Emily Bower, Jacob Elliott and Krystof Wood taking county championship glory.

Emily was Junior County Champion in the 50m backstroke and joint Junior Champion for 50m freestyle whilst Jacob was Senior County Champion for the 50m and 100m breaststroke with Krystof Junior County Champion for the 50m, 100m and 200m backstroke and 50m freestyle.

The event took place over three weekends and Bromsgrove SC had 28 swimmers, from the age of 9 to 20, achieve qualifying times to compete at the championships despite disruption to training.

Club Chair Emily Turner said: “Our swimmers have shown such resilience and strength to come back after so many obstacles were thrown our way over the last two years.

“We are so incredibly proud of how the swimmers persevere and are committed to working towards process goals, not just the outcomes.

“Achieving cleaner dives, longer underwater phases and more efficient breathing techniques are just some of the factors the swimmers work towards as they train up to 14 hours a week.

“The awards won are well deserved after how hard they all work at every training session and seeing all the swimmers back together supporting each other is an absolute joy.”

Head Coach Matt Lowe added: “I am so proud of all our swimmers at the club, there are so many positives to take out of the County Championships this year, our swimmers achieved 83 personal best times and the biggest age range we have ever had representing the club.

“This shows our strong development as a team throughout all of our groups and is a huge credit to all the hard work our coaches and swimmers have put in.”

The first weekend of the championships focused on long distance freestyle swimmers competing over 800m and 1500m followed by two weekend’s that cover all strokes and individual medleys for the 50m, 100m, 200m and 400m distances.
