UNBEATEN Fairfield Villa stormed to their first away win of the season, and made it successive wins in Midland League Division Two, by beating Bolehall Swifts 3-1 last weekend.
Ending Bolehall’s winning start to the season in the process at Rene Road, Keith Draper’s troops dealt admirably with a number of absentees to earn three points with a disciplined performance on away soil.
After surviving an early scare, the Swans hit the front when Luke Dugmore sank an excellent strike into the net to give Villa a 14th-minute advantage.
While Fairfield were not at their clinical best, the chances importantly continued to flow and led to George Tolley twice going close.
The visitors deservedly doubled their lead on 27 minutes when Kian Davies found himself in unfamiliar territory and zipped a fine hit into the net from long range.
Maintaining their 2-0 lead at the break, the Swifts came back into contention with a Nicholas Clark stunner after the interval.
While it served as a wake-up call to the visitors, Fairfield regained their composure and eventually wrapped up victory when Connor Perry-Holmes slotted home from 12 yards to make it three games without defeat for the season.
On Saturday, second-placed Villa host Inkberrow – seventh – before then welcoming third-placed Coton Green to the Recreation Ground on Bank Holiday Monday.
