Studley Lions lift Bromsgrove League Bridgwater Cup

STUDLEY Lions lifted the Bromsgrove League Bridgwater Cup after securing a narrow 1-0 victory over Spa Athletic.

Nick Briggs netted the only goal of the game from the penalty spot midway through the second half in front of 250 fans at the Victoria Ground.

Black Horse moved a step closer to securing the Premier Division title at the first attempt following their move from the Redditch and South Warwickshire Combination with a 3-0 victory over Meadow Park.

Two goals from Dan Carter and one from Joe Adams brought an end to Park’s unbeaten league record.




Second place Bartley Green Illey Sunday remain in hot pursuit of Horse as goals from Josh Moore, Carl Martin and Alex Dugmore secured a 3-1 victory at Pilkington Sunday.

Meanwhile, Belbroughton Athletic ended their league campaign with an 8-4 victory at Millfied Rovers.


Red Lion inched towards the Division One crown with a 4-2 victory at Oak Tree Sporting.

Dan Bearcroft, Jordan Street, Kingsley Smith and Kieron Madden were on target for Lion; Jack Steele and Richard Hall for Sporting.

Division Three leaders Stoke Works slipped up in their charge for the league crown as they were held to a 3-3 draw by Chaddesley Corbett Reserves.

Ryan Cooper (2) and Mike Hewitt scored for Works.

Second placed Bromsgrove Corinthians made it six wins out of seven as goals from Alex Beck (2), Ed Tear and Ben Hewitt secured a 4-2 home victory over Arrow Valley.

Elsewhere Rubery Legends beat FC Bromsgrove 5-0, thanks to goals from Jake Booton (2), Jamie Taylor, Jahmel Trevis and Chris Gee.
