SOUTH Bromsgrove High’s boys’ football teams claimed a remarkable clean sweep of trophies at the Worcestershire Schools FA County Cup finals.
The Sixth Form (under-18) team beat St Augustines 2-1 after extra-time to secure South’s first trophy before the Year 11 (under-16) team won 3-1 against Droitwich High.
And South’s Year 9 (under-14) team beat Bewdley High 2-1 before the Year 10 (under-15) team completed a clean sweep for South with another 2-1 win against rivals North Bromsgrove High.
All of the cup finals were played at Redditch United’s Trico Stadium.
South Bromsgrove’s PE Teacher and Director of Football Dave Bayliss said: “I have not known one school reach all of their potential Finals since my time teaching in Worcestershire (17 years). That is some achievement alone.
“This is an extremely rare thing to happen and is down to the commitment, talent and the hard work put in by the students and staff.
“To go unbeaten in one County Cup is an achievement but four is unheard of until now!”
