LADIES captain Sally Franks believes Bromsgrove B Team can hold their own in the top flight despite being thumped 4-0 by the club’s A Team.

Following their promotion to Division One, the B Team were handed a tense match against their club-mates as the league rules state the two must face each other in the season opener.

And with pride at stake, Franks, Rachael Mack, Imogen Sinclair and Jilly Whitcomb rose to the challenge as they saw off Katherine Smedley, Sophie Oliver, Kelly Kenward and Sophie Cornelius.

Despite the one-sided scoreline, Franks said it was a tight match and was confident the B team would push sides this season.

“With Bromsgrove having two teams in Division One we’re all looking forward to the season ahead,” she said.

“The B Team showed they have the determination and skill to hold their own at this level and there will be close rivalry between us to see who finishes highest.”
