Scores on the board at Boars as fund-raiser gathers pace

Bromsgrove Editorial 17th Mar, 2021   0

A FUND-RAISER to help install a new electronic scoreboard at Bromsgrove Cricket Club’s Hedges Ground has been launched ahead of the 2021 season.

The Boars’ third and fourth XI, who occupy the second ground behind St. Godwalds Park, ply their trade in Worcestershire County Division Four and Seven respectively and are just weeks away from returning to action in what many will hope to be a full campaign this time around.

And, with preparations stepping up by the day both on and off the pitch, Bromsgrove’s longest-serving member Peter Weston has taken it upon himself to provide the club with an electronic scoreboard to further improve the matchday look at the home of the Boars.

It should come as no surprise that Weston has gone the extra mile to help the club, given his family connections to the team which stretch back over 100 years and include current grandchildren turning out for Bromsgrove’s youth sides.

An initial fund-raiser of £4,000 to purchase the scoreboard was smashed at the end of last year, but an additional £2,000 in installation and security costs is now required to ensure the board takes pride of place when the first ball is bowled next month.
