SANTIAGO COLTS’ under-14 Lions have been crowned champions of Division Three after drawing 1-1 with rivals West Hagley.

George Whitehouse netted the all-important goal for the Lions to secure promotion to Division Two.

Manager Grant Westwood said: “It’s a fantastic achievement for the squad and we have plenty of support from not only the parents, but also the coaching team of Craig Gentleman, Mark Jesic and Lee Jones.

“The players have been working at a high standard and have taken that into the season to achieve promotion.

“We are trying to go from Division Five to the Premier Division in three years – that would be an amazing achievement.”

The under-16 Colts returned to winning ways with a 6-3 victory over Bromsgrove Blades thanks to two goals from man-of-the-match Callum Gregory and singles from Aqeel Davies, Tobias Parchment, Sam Whitehouse and Ashley Irvine.

Under-14 Shamrock claimed a narrow 1-0 victory over Solihull Yellow with the only goal of the game coming from Matt McFall.

In what was expecting to be a great game, the under-12 Lions drew 0-0 with champions elect Oakland Colts; Joe Close was man-of-the-match.

The Under-13 Allstars slumped to a 1-0 defeat to Bournville after conceding early on.

Meanwhile, the under-12 Crusaders lost 2-1 to Highgate United with Joe Simpkin netting for the Crusaders.

Oliver Cladicott and Joshua Efuna were joint man-of-the-match.
