BROMSGROVE RFC suffered yet another narrow defeat on the road as the Boars conceded a last-minute try to lose 27-21 away at Burton.

Drew Harper crossed twice with Ed Spalding also touching down whilst Will Harris added six points from the kicking tee as the Boars came away with a losing bonus point at Battlestead Croft.

The result leaves Bromsgrove in seventh place in the Regional 1 Midlands table.

However, the visitors made a strong start as a Harris penalty and unconverted Harper try put the Boars into an eight-point lead.

Burton responded with two tries of their own, one of which was converted, before another Harris penalty sent the Boars into the break with a one-point deficit.

And Bromsgrove were back in front early in the second half as Spalding crossed the whitewash in the corner with Harris pushing the conversion wide.

The home side hit back with a penalty and unconverted try of their own before Harper touched down his second of the game only for Harris to hit the post with his conversion attempt.

This put the Boars into a one-point lead with eight minutes left to play.

However, Burton scored their bonus point try at the death when a forward pass was missed by the referee which allowed the home side to break down the wing and score with the last play of the game.

Bromsgrove are next in action against Derby on Saturday, October 22 with kick-off at 3pm at Finstall Park.
