JAMES Gunther scored a hat-trick as Bromsgrove RFC put bottom of the table Broadstreet to the sword with a comprehensive 53-0 victory.

Gunther crossed once in the first half and twice after the break while Will Tanner, Drew Harper, Jordan Maddocks, Rich Hance and Ed Spalding all dotted down at Finstall Park.

And the result means Bromsgrove sit fourth in the Regional 1 Midlands table following a fourth successive victory in the league.

The Boars kicked themselves into an early lead as Tanner sent a penalty between the posts before the same player crossed for the game’s first try on 26 minutes in the corner.

And the home side extended their lead from a catch and drive at a lineout as Gunther touched down for his first try of the game and Tanner added the extras.

Bromsgrove blew Broadstreet away after the interval with three tries in the space of eight minutes as Harper, Maddocks and Gunter all crossed with Will Harris converting the latter score.

An excellent break from Hance allowed the Bromsgrove man to score under the posts on 65 minutes before Spalding dotted down in the corner with Harris converting both tries.

And Gunther completed his hat-trick with the last play of the match following another breakaway before Harris’s successful conversion put the seal on an emphatic victory.

Bromsgrove are next in action away at Burton on Saturday, November 18 with kick-off at 3pm at Battlestead Croft.
