BROMSGROVE RFC conceded two tries in the final two minutes in an agonising 36-34 defeat away at Stoke-on-Trent.
The Boars looked set to claim a bonus point win after two tries from Ed Spalding and further scores from Josh Holt, Finn Haynes and Tom Cubitt completed a remarkable second-half turnaround.
However, after Bromsgrove registered 24 unanswered points, Stoke scored two tries at the death, including one under the posts in the final minute to deny the Boars victory at Hartwell Lane.
And the result means Bromsgrove sit sixth in the Regional 1 Midlands table.
The Boars made the perfect start when Spalding crossed for the game’s first try after just two minutes and Will Tanner kicked the extras.
However, two yellow cards in quick succession left Bromsgrove down to 13-men and Stoke made the most of their numerical advantage to score two tries in the space of six minutes.
The visitors reduced the deficit when Tanner kicked a penalty on the half-hour mark only for Stoke to score their third try just before half time.
And Stoke increased their lead to 14 points with a penalty shortly after half time to leave the Boars with a mountain to climb.
However, Holt, Hayes, Cubitt and Spalding all dotted down for Bromsgrove in a remarkable 25-minute period as the Boars turned the game on its head.
Tanner converted two of the tries, after seeing one of his efforts successfully charged down, as the Boars led by 10 points heading into the final few minutes.
However, in a crazy finish to the game, Stoke crossed on 78 minutes and again two minutes later with the successful conversion ensuring the home side took the points.
Bromsgrove are next in action at home to Kenilworth on Saturday, January 13 with kick-off at 2.15pm at Finstall Park.
