BROMSGROVE students helped Old Swinford Hospital’s senior rugby team win the inaugural John Fisher State School Rugby Festival.

The festival showcased some of the best state school rugby talent from across the country.

Old Swinford Hospital’s (OSH) squad comprised a mix of year 11, 12 and 13 students – some of which included Bromsgrove-based players.

OSH played six 20-minute games during the two-day festival and won all five of their group matches against RGS Lancaster, Ravens Wood School, Langley Park School, Wimbledon College and the hosts John Fisher School.

That meant OSH secured a place in the final against fellow unbeaten side The Judd School.

OSH sealed a 12-0 victory to become the first team to win the National State Schools Rugby Festival.
