RUGBY UNION - Bromsgrove romp to home win against Broadstreet

BROMSGROVE RFC eased to a 43-21 bonus point win against Broadstreet as the Boars scored 40-plus points for the second successive home fixture.

Tom Hardwick, Rich Hance, James Gunther, Callum Megram, Tom Sadler and Will Trumper all crossed for tries with Will Harris adding 13 points from the kicking tee at Finstall Park.

The result leaves Bromsgrove in sixth place in the Regional 1 Midlands table.

And the Boars scored the game’s first try when Hardwick finished underneath the posts after great work from Rich Hance before Harris kicked a penalty to extend Bromsgrove’s lead.

Hance then grabbed a try for himself on the half-hour mark after he burst through the Broadstreet defence and evaded the tackle of the full-back with Harris again successful with the conversion.

And the home side added to their lead on the stroke of half time when Gunther crossed for his first of the season to send Bromsgrove into the break with a 24-7 advantage.

Despite Broadstreet responding with a try of their own after the break, two quickfire scores from the Boars ended any hopes of a comeback as Megram and Sadler both dotted down.

Broadstreet crossed for one further try before Ed Spalding left two visiting defenders on the floor and offloaded to Trumper who scored in the corner.

Bromsgrove are next in action away at league leaders Syston on Saturday, October 1 with kick-off at 3pm at Barkby Road.
