RUGBY UNION - Bromsgrove RFC suffer fifth successive away defeat at Dudley

BROMSGROVE RFC were beaten 16-10 by Dudley Kingswinford as the Boars suffered a fifth consecutive away defeat.

Will Harris scored Bromsgrove’s only try in the second half as the Boars came away with a losing bonus point for their efforts.

The result leaves Bromsgrove in sixth place in the Midlands Premier table, with their title hopes all but over, trailing leaders Newport (Salop) by 20 points.

Kick-off was delayed until 3pm as standing water from Storm Eunice was removed from the pitch and the home side made the most of the conditions to lead 9-3 at half time.

And after an end-to-end start to the second period, Bromsgrove missed two penalty kick attempts, one of which hit the post with the other falling just short in blustery conditions.

Harris finally managed to dot down the Boars first try when he broke through several tackles before scoring underneath the posts from Tom Millen’s offload.

However, the hosts snatched the win when a Bromsgrove clearance was charged down and the loose ball was recovered to score a converted try.

Despite the Boars throwing everything at Dudley for the final 10 minutes, the home side stood firm as Bromsgrove’s struggles on the road continued.

Bromsgrove are next in action at home to league leaders Newport (Salop) on Saturday, March 5 with kick-off at 3pm at Finstall Park.
