DREW HARPER and Ross Attwood both crossed for two tries as Bromsgrove RFC returned to winning ways with a 45-24 bonus point victory against Doncaster Phoenix.
Harper and Attwood’s scores were added to by Tom Millen, Will Harris and Kieran Haynes as the Boars were back to their best at Finstall Park.
The result means Bromsgrove sit fifth in the Midlands Premier table having ended a run of three successive defeats that has seen them drop out of contention for the title.
And the Boars made a blistering start when Harper crashed through the Doncaster defence after just four minutes to put the home side in command.
Bromsgrove scored their second try on 12 minutes when Attwood scored underneath the posts after breaking down the right wing with Harris converting.
That score prompted Doncaster into action as the visitors responded with a try of their own before Millen went under the posts after intercepting on Bromsgrove’s own 22-metre line.
And Attwood then ran in his second score of the half after he outpaced the scrambling Doncaster defence to secure a try bonus point for the Boars who went into the break with a 26-6 lead.
The hosts extended their advantage in the second period when Harris burst through a gap to score before converting his own try.
Doncaster hit back with two quickfire tries to reduce Bromsgrove’s lead only for the Boars to add two further scores of their own through Haynes’s first try for the club and Harper’s second of the match.
The visitors secured a try bonus point with their fourth score late on but the Boars returned to winning ways to end their losing run with a seven-try success.
Bromsgrove are next in action against Dudley Kingswinford on Saturday, February 19 with kick-off at 2.15pm at Heathbrook.
