RUGBY UNION - Bromsgrove RFC remain top after big win against Paviors

BROMSGROVE RFC remain top of the Midlands Premier after they ran in seven tries on their way to a 49-10 win against Nottinghamshire side Paviors.

Jake Attwell touched down twice for the Boars with Will Harris, Ross Attwood, Will Trumper and Jamie Atkin also crossing with a penalty try adding to the hosts total.

The win marked Bromsgrove’s 10th victory from 12 matches and means they are now two points clear of Sheffield at the top of the Midlands Premier standings.

And despite winning by 39 points – the margin of victory flattered the Boars who fell behind to an early Paviors try following some intense pressure on the Bromsgrove line.

However, the home side responded with an immediate reply through Harris before Attwood and Trumper added scores of their own.

Paviors kept themselves in the game with their second well-worked try – which would mark the last points they scored on a tough afternoon for the visitors.

The Boars ended the half strongly and were rewarded when Atkin drove over the line after some strong work from the Bromsgrove pack to lead 27-10 at the break.

Despite an error-strewn display from both sides in the second-half – Attwell ran in two late tries either side of a penalty try being awarded in the Boars favour for foul play.

Bromsgrove are next in action away at Sandbach on Saturday, December 11 with kick-off at 2:15pm at Bradwall Road.
