WILL Trumper scored two tries as Bromsgrove RFC moved back to the top of the Midland’s Premier table after a hard-fought 29-22 bonus point win against Oundle
Trumper crossed in both halves with Rich Hance, Will Harris and Ed Krawiecki also dotting down to secure back-to-back wins for the Boars.
Despite having several players unavailable – Bromsgrove braved the elements to secure a crucial win in a closely fought contest.
The win means Bromsgrove are now one point clear at the top of the Midland’s Premier table ahead of Sheffield in second place.
And the Boars made the perfect start when Hance made a 70-yard break up-field before he eventually crashed over.
Trumper then extended Bromsgrove’s lead when he reacted quickest to a pass along the floor before touching down.
Oundle reduced the deficit with a well-worked try of their own before the Boars struck twice more before the end of the half.
First, Harris raced in to score following a charge down before Krawiecki powered over from close range to hand Bromsgrove a commanding 24-5 lead at the break.
The home side struck back early in the second-half only for Trumper’s opportune score – his second of the game – to settle any Bromsgrove nerves.
Oundle scored their third try with the last play of the match, but it proved too little too late as Bromsgrove secured another impressive win in difficult conditions.
Bromsgrove are next in action at home to Paviors on Saturday, December 4 with kick-off at 2:15pm.
