BROMSGROVE RFC saw their late comeback attempt fall short in a 22-20 home defeat against league leaders Stourbridge.
The Boars failed to register a point in the first half and trailed by 16 points with five minutes left to play at Finstall Park.
However, quickfire tries from Jack Medley and George Meader set up a grandstand finish with the Boars just unable to complete the turnaround.
The result means Bromsgrove sit seventh in the Regional 1 Midlands table.
Stourbridge eventually broke the deadlock on the half-hour mark after the visitors created an overlap to score a try in the corner.
And the away side kicked a penalty from in front of the posts to take an eight-point lead into the break.
The Boars reduced the deficit early in the second half when Will Tanner kicked a penalty.
However, Stourbridge responded with a try under the posts moments later to stretch their lead to 12 points.
Bromsgrove kicked a second penalty later in the half only for Stourbridge to dot down under the posts again to take a three-score lead.
The Boars rallied in the final five minutes as tries from Medley and Meader, both converted by Rhys Williams, closed the gap to two points.
However, Stourbridge managed to turn the ball over with the clock in the red and find touch to bring an end to the contest.
Bromsgrove are next in action against Newent on Saturday, November 8 with kick-off at 2.15pm at Finstall Park.
