RUGBY UNION - Bromsgrove end home campaign with defeat against Sandbach

BROMSGROVE RFC ended their home campaign with a 31-10 defeat against Sandbach as the Boars were left to rue a poor first-half showing.

The Boars remain injury ravaged with eight first-team regulars missing which led to a start for 41-year-old Richard Mahony.

A Will Harris penalty edged Bromsgrove into the lead only for Sandbach to score three tries to head into the break with a 17-point lead.

Harris then touched down from a tap and go penalty before converting his own try to keep Bromsgrove in the contest.

However, Sandbach scored their bonus point try shortly after to secure the points and added two late penalties to add some gloss to the scoreline.

The result leaves Bromsgrove in sixth place in the Midlands Premier table with just one match left to play.

Bromsgrove finish the season with a trip to Scunthorpe on Saturday, April 23 with kick-off at 3pm at Heslam Park.
