BROMSGROVE RFC saw their four-game winning run come to an end following a 30-22 defeat away at Burton.

A late penalty denied the Boars a losing bonus point as Callum Megram and Oliver Ingram crossed for tries while Will Harris added 12 points from the kicking tee at Battlestead Croft.

And the result means Bromsgrove sit fifth in the Regional 1 Midlands table.

Burton crossed for the game’s first try after just three minutes before extending their lead with two successful penalty attempts.

However, the Boars hit back through inside centre Megram’s try in the corner on 15 minutes and a Harris penalty just before the half-hour mark only for Burton to run in two further tries before the break.

The visitors kept themselves in the contest as Harris kicked another penalty and Ingram touched down on 52 minutes to reduce the deficit to six points.

However, Burton scored their bonus point try to take the game out of the away side’s reach despite Harris kicking two further penalties to give the Boars hope.

And a late penalty for the hosts meant the Boars went home empty-handed with the kick denying the visitors a losing bonus point.

Bromsgrove are next in action at home to high-flying Stourbridge on Saturday, December 2 with kick-off at 2.15pm at Finstall Park.
