TOM Sadler crossed for two tries as Bromsgrove RFC remained top of the Midland’s Premier with a hard-fought 26-17 bonus point win away at Doncaster Phoenix.
Sadler ran in two tries for the Boars with Jake Attwood and Will Trumper also dotting down to secure a bonus point victory.
That means Bromsgrove have now picked up a try bonus points in each of their six wins this season as they sit two points clear of closest challengers Sandbach after seven matches.
The Boars opened the scoring when Ross Attwood’s beautiful pass set-up Sadler to apply his customary finish and grab the first of his two tries.
Bromsgrove extended their lead to 14 points when J Attwood intercepted a pass before running the length of the pitch to score.
However, Doncaster reduced the deficit with their first try of the game from a well-executed lineout.
But Bromsgrove would hit back with a superb try of their own which began close to the Boars line as R Attwood sent Sadler away to score from 60-metres out.
And the visitors went into the break with a healthy lead after Trumper finished a lovely team try on the opposite wing.
Bromsgrove failed to add to their lead in the second-half despite being camped on the Doncaster line for the opening 20 minutes of the second period.
The home side then pinned Bromsgrove back for the remainder of the half and scored a well-worked try to reduce the Boars lead to nine points.
However, Bromsgrove defended vigilantly for the final quarter of an hour to see out a 26-17 victory and remain top of the Midland’s Premier.
The Boars are next in action in a league and cup double header at home to Dudley Kingswinford on Saturday, October 30 with kick-off at 2:30pm.
