RUGBY UNION - Boars end campaign with biggest win of season against Oundle

BROMSGROVE RFC ended the season in style with a 67-7 bonus point victory against Oundle as the Boars recorded their biggest win of the campaign.

Callum Megram and Tom Sadler both crossed twice for Bromsgrove as James Gunther, Ross Attwood, Ed Spalding, Rich Hance and Tom Cubitt all touched down in a nine-try win at Finstall Park.

The result means the Boars sit second in the Regional 1 Midlands table having played all of their matches with the three teams below them to complete their games in hand over the next fortnight.

Bromsgrove saved one of their best performances for the last game of the season as Gunther started the scoring spree on three minutes with the first try of the match which was converted by Will Harris.

And Harris then kicked two penalties either side of Callum Megram’s first try on 17 minutes which he converted to put the Boars firmly on top.

The home side closed out the first half with two further tries as Sadler crossed twice in the space of six minutes, both of which were converted by Harris, to send the Boars into the break with a 34-0 lead.

Bromsgrove picked up where they left off after the break as Attwood, Spalding and Hance all dotted down in a six-minute blitz with two of the tries converted by Harris.

And there was still time for Cubitt to score just past the hour mark and Megram to grab his second of the game at the death as Harris kicked both conversions to finish with a 22-point individual haul.

The Boars discovered their Papa Johns Cup opponents earlier this week with Bromsgrove in a pool alongside Lymm, Heath and Blackburn.

Bromsgrove will host Lymm on April 1 and then travel to Heath on April 8 before finishing the pool at home to Blackburn on April 15.
