RUGBY UNION - Boars back to winning ways against Bridgnorth

JACK Morris crossed twice as Bromsgrove RFC secured a bonus point 25-19 win against Bridgnorth in a game of two halves.

The Boars responded to defeat against league leaders Dudley with an important win as Morris’s tries were supported by scores from Josh Holt and Nathan Fisher at Finstall Park.

And the result means Bromsgrove sit second in the Regional 1 Midlands table to trail Dudley by three points having played two games more.

A depleted Bridgnorth side scored the game’s first try after just three minutes to leave Bromsgrove stunned.

However, the Boars would go on to dominate the first half as full back Morris crossed twice either side of Holt’s score with Harvey Causer kicking a single conversion and a penalty to send Bromsgrove into the break with a 15-point lead.

And lock Fisher scored the home side’s bonus point try early in the second period as the Boars looked set for an easy victory.

Bridgnorth refused to accept defeat and scored two converted tries in the second half to close the gap to six points and set up a tense final 10 minutes.

And Bridgnorth made one last break for the line only for Boars wing Tom Sadler to produce a tremendous try-saving tackle and ensure the home side came away with the points.

Bromsgrove are next in action away at Kenilworth on Saturday, February 11 with kick-off at 2.15pm at the Jack Davies Memorial Ground.
