VKL UNITED held their third annual charity match in memory of Vinay Kishor Ladwa when they took on Shakespeare Studley at Redditch United’s Valley Stadium on Saturday evening.

There was an excellent turnout for the match – from which proceeds will go to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital – and was won 1-0 by Shakespeare through Dave White’s goal.

A spokesperson from the Redditch & South Warwickshire Combination League said: “We would like to join VKL in thanking everyone for their support in raising money for the hospital.”

On Sunday, the only game to beat the frosty weather was Studley Swan’s clash against SCC Redolence at Greenlands.

One of SCC Redolence’s newest signings – Ryan Sproston – was on the scoresheet for the visitors, as were Luke Bryan and Matthew Wood in their 3-1 victory.

Lea Styles – recently recruited from South Redditch – scored for Studley Swan.

After this match, the league results have been frozen and the league has now been split into three divisions as follows: Premier Division – CBH Fasteners, Austin Ex-Apprentices, Golden Cross, New Woodland Cottage, Beoley Village.

Division One – Redditch Cross, Redditch Town, Lodge Park RA, SCC Redolence, AFC Lions.

Division Two – SO Goose Greenlands, South Redditch, Studley Swan, VKL United, Shakespeare Studley.

All teams will play each other from their division twice.
