BROMSGROVE’S director of rugby Dan Protherough has asked for another positive performance at Bracknell following their 17-17 draw with National Three South West promotion chasing Bournemouth.
Already relegated Bromsgrove put on a battling show on Saturday to claim a point at Finstall Park and Protherough hopes to see more of the same in Berkshire on Saturday.
Matt Michel (university commitments) and Josh Holt (hamstring) are set to miss the game but the Boars boss is confident of ending the season strongly.
“We just need to keep the same level of effort and commitment to get a result,” he said.
“Rugby is a bit like a jigsaw puzzle because you have to put all the pieces together to get a win.
“You can’t play well and have bad discipline as it can go against you.
“It’s all about bringing everything together and hopefully we can achieve that this weekend.”
Tom Hardwick and Tom Millen bagged the tries for Bromsgrove while Jon Critchlow kicked two conversions and a penalty.
But what made the result sweeter for Protherough was the low amount of penalties his side had conceded.
“It was certainly one of our best performance of the season because they have fast backs and powerful forwards,” he added.
“We upped our intensity and if we showed some more confidence and belief we may have won the game.
“But what impressed me the most was we did not give away as many silly penalties which puts the opposition into good areas.
“Overall it was a solid performance and I’ll be hoping for more of the same this weekend.”
After Saturday, Bromsgrove have just two games of their season left to play.
The Boars welcome mid-table Brixham to Finstall Park on April 8 before making the trip to Gloucestershire-based Lydney on April 15.
