BROMSGROVE Men’s G team’s four-game winning streak in Division 11 East of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Winter League was brought to an end by second placed Droitwich F who ran out 3-1 victors.
The opening round saw both rubbers go to three sets and Bromsgrove lost both in tie breaks to go 2-0 down.
The second round saw Craig Horton with captain Martin German win 6-4, 6-2, but Joe Finn with Fabrice Vinson lost 3-6, 2-6.
With just one match remaining any hopes of promotion are now gone but a solid mid-table finish is guaranteed.
It was a similar result for the Men’s D team who lost to Pershore B in Division Seven East.
Lukas Pye and Stewart Roney stepped up from the F and G squads respectively to fill last minute withdrawals due to illness and join Tom Round and Trevor Errington.
The opening round saw a long battle for Round and Errington with most games going to deuce.
However, they eventually lost 3-6, 3-6.
Their second round went better as they started with a 6-1 win and fought off a Pershore recovery to win the second 7-5.
Stepping up four divisions for Pye and Roney was tough but they fought hard, going down in both rubbers to give Pershore a 3-1 win.
