PREVIEW - 'Bromsgrove Sporting to use whole squad with a busy September ahead' - Kelly

WITH 21 players now on the books, Bromsgrove Sporting will be using the squad to its full potential during a very busy September – that is the view of Brendan Kelly ahead of his side’s next game.

The Rouslers host Worksop Town in the Second Round Qualifying in the FA Cup at the Victoria Ground at 3pm tomorrow (Saturday).

Kelly told the Standard: “We’ve had quite a few injuries and it’s important we manage those coming back.

“I’ve spoken to quite a few managers who say they are in the same boat – not sure whether it has been caused by the stop-start nature of football over the past 18 months but it’s definitely an issue.”

The Rouslers are up to eighth in the Southern League Premier Division Central table after a 1-0 win against Hitchin last weekend.

Nathan Hayward scored the only goal of the game, firing home from 20 yards following a nicely crafted string of passes.

Kelly added: “It was a hard fought match – a good game of football and it was Nathan’s quality which was the difference between the two sides.

“It was important for us to get another three points on the board as after the FA Cup game we have a very tough run of league fixtures.”

He said he was particularly pleased with the second clean sheet in a row.

“If you keep your opponents out, it gives you a great chance of winning matches.

“On Saturday, as well as getting through in the competition, it would also be good for us financially.”
