Phasey set for Canada lift off after England call-up

BROMSGROVE powerlifter Kelly Phasey has received international recognition once more, after being called up to represent England at the Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships in Canada in September.

The 43-year-old now prepares for the championships, hosted in St. John’s in the Newfoundland and Labrador province, where she will look to add to her European silver, European Equipped Bench bronze and IPF World Classic Championships bronze medals accumulated to date.

Phasey, who is a powerlifting coach and trainer at her gym – Kelly Phasey Fitness – on Windsor Road in Redditch, is hoping to get local companies on board with her journey as a result of the call-up.

“I am absolutely delighted to be representing England in Canada,” she said.

“However, as the travel costs to Canada are not covered, I am offering to promote local companies both within my gym, and on the trip, in return for sponsorship opportunities.”

The Team GB powerlifter invites any local businesses to get in touch by email at [email protected] to enquire about supporting her trip to the Championships.

Meanwhile, personal trainer Steve Moses will be offering group training sessions – for a maximum of four people – following the expansion of the gym.

It adds to the working partnership that Phasey has enjoyed alongside Redditch Self Defence – run by Pete Martin – who are also based at the Windsor Road gym.
