BROMSGROVE School’s under-16 netball team were crowned the second-best team in the country at the National Schools Finals held at Oundle School in Northamptonshire.
The under-16 netballers had previously won district, county and regional tournaments before qualifying to compete at the National Finals against the top-18 schools in the country.
And they enjoyed a successful start to the tournament as they beat Cheadle Hulme, Brentwood School, Yarm, Torquay Girls’ Grammar, Wakefield Girls’ High and Stamford in their pool matches.
After six wins from eight matches, Bromsgrove advanced to the semi-finals where they won a thrilling game against a strong side from North Chadderton School.
However, the girls fell just short in their quest for glory as they were beaten by Redmaids High School in the final to finish as runners-up.
And Bromsgrove School’s under-14 netball team also qualified for the National Finals but just missed out on a place in the semi-finals to finish as one of the top-eight teams in the country.
