At the end of the first half, Brosmgrove Sporting find themselves 3-0 up as three quick-fire goals in the space of eight minutes blow away Coventry United.

Despite their early dominance, Coventry succumbed to the sheer firepower that Sporting possess as Sean Brain got the first of the afternoon with a calm finish past Richard Morris after latching on to Connor Collins’ flick on.

Collins got on the scoresheet himself just three minutes later firing home a low left-footed effort from the edge of the area beyond the rooted United keeper.

Things got worse for United five minutes later as Reece Hewitt added a third.

Following a brilliant run through the middle of United’s defence, he lashed home a powerful effort on the edge of the box with Morris rooted once again.

Sporting keeper Chris Jay kept the scores at 3-0 just before the half hour mark as a strong right-foot kept out Matthew Brown’s driven effort from close range.

Liam Spink wasted a golden opportunity to put the Rouslers 4-0 up minutes five minutes from the interval but after Brain rounded Morris, his pass to Hewitt was intercepted by Spink who blazed wildly over – much to the anger of Hewitt.

As it stands, Sporting find themselves four points clear at the top of the Midland League Division One table but United still having two games in hand, nothing is far from decided.

Second half to come.
