Bromsgrove Sporting skipper Richard Gregory writes for The Standard in his weekly column, reflecting on a draw at Hitchin Town, the mid-week win against Hednesford Town and previewing Nuneaton Borough.
SEVEN points from our last three league games shows signs that we are certainly heading in the right direction.
The lads are disappointed as we feel it should be nine points, after not holding on at Hitchin at the weekend.
However, we bounced back on Tuesday night against the league leaders Hednesford, which I suppose everyone would agree was our best performance of the season.
Individually, everyone did the job that was required and collectively we came together to put in the perfect team performance.
We were strong defensively, and we certainly finished off any chances that game our way.
We have set a standard now.
Speaking afterwards with the lads, we have played the top four in the league and are unbeaten, winning two of them.
We can’t rest on our laurels though and think that if we turn up we will win, you have to earn it and fight in every game you play.
Any opposition you come up against will be tough if you allow it to be.
We welcome Nuneaton on Saturday, which again, is a great game to be involved in.
These are two big Midlands non-league clubs who are both well supported, so it should be a cracker.
The Victoria Ground was rocking against Hednesford and back to how I know it can be.
I know that if the Shed is loud the lads will respond and it gives us the extra kick you sometimes need in a game – so I hope to see a thousand plus on Saturday.
