INSIDE VIEW - Richard Gregory's Bromsgrove Sporting post-Easter weekend column

Bromsgrove Sporting skipper Richard Gregory writes for The Standard in his weekly column, providing his thoughts on the Easter weekend wins against Aylesbury United and Coleshill Town.

BANK Holiday weekend saw us win two out of two games, starting with the 3-0 win at Aylesbury United and then an Easter Monday 2-0 win against play-off hopefuls Coleshill Town.

The gaffer stated that the whole squad would be getting more minutes over the course of the two games, so it was a good chance for people who haven’t been playing to try and cement their place in the squad ahead of the play-offs.

Both wins were very solid, and we were very pleased to keep clean sheets in both games.

There were plenty of good performances which will leave Brendan and Andy with some big decisions to make, which I’m sure they are very happy with with the play-offs just around the corner.

On a personal note I was happy to reach 30 goals for the season.

That’s a number that I am definitely more than happy with and I certainly hope there will be a couple more to add to that in the next couple of weeks.

On Saturday, we make the trip to Berkhamsted for our final league game of the season.

It’s a game we definitely want to win to finish the season on a high – Berkhamsted are the only side we haven’t beaten so it would be nice to change that.

It’s been a brilliant season, not to win the league has been hard to take, but the league table doesn’t lie.

Peterborough fully deserve the title over the course of the season, they just had that little bit more consistency than we did.

To finish second in our first season at step four still goes down as a successful season.

I feel as a group that we have learnt a lot and that we are a lot stronger now than we were at the start of the campaign, so we will be going into the play-offs full of confidence giving our very best to try and gain promotion.

The support we have had throughout the whole season has been unbelievable, so I ask everyone to rally together and come up in your numbers on Wednesday night for our very last push of the season.

You’re our 12th man, and we want to hear the Victoria Ground absolutely rocking.

Up the Rouslers!

Gregs
