INSIDE VIEW - Richard Gregory's Bromsgrove Sporting post-Corby Town column

Ben Tyler 9th May, 2019

Bromsgrove Sporting skipper Richard Gregory writes for The Standard in his weekly column, providing his thoughts on the Rouslers promotion-winning campaign, following Monday’s play-off final win.

We did it!

We achieved promotion, and what a way to do it as well – the play-offs in my opinion are the best way to get promoted.

I don’t even know where to start with the final, it had everything.

Two missed penalties, a red card, and plenty of goals – thankfully at the end of it all it was us celebrating the promotion.

Commiserations to Corby Town who made the final an excellent one, and I’m sure everyone who came along and paid their entry will say they got their money’s worth.

When we got promoted last season, my first thought was to consolidate our position in this league, as we had players who have never played at this level before.

But after 10 games, we all knew promotion was capable.

We give Peterborough a good run for their money, but the league wasn’t to be.

But to set up two play-off ties at home, in front of the best set of supporters in non-league, was just brilliant.

The noise that was generated was unreal in both games, and to win both matches in extra-time just made it that little more special once we’d achieved promotion.

It’s been a memorable season, it really has, I for one personally enjoyed every moment.

We now look forward to our end-of-season presentation and our end-of-season trip to Mallorca, where we will all be celebrating in style.

Thanks to everyone who supported us this season, I hope that you will all come back next season, as this club can go anywhere it wants in future.

Thanks again, and up the Rouslers!
