BROMSGROVE Sporting suffered a third straight league defeat after losing 4-1 against Rushall Olympic at Dales Lane on Tuesday night.

Reece Mitchell and Rackeem Reid both found the net twice for Rushall with Demetri Brown bagging a late consolation for Sporting.

The defeat leaves Bromsgrove in 13th place in the Southern League Premier Central table after another difficult night for Brendan Kelly’s side in Walsall.

Sporting could not have wished for a worse start when Mitchell opened the scoring inside 60 seconds after he exchanged passes with Reid before finishing off a fine move.

And Rushall doubled their lead on 29 minutes when Reid was played through by Danny Glover before rounding Bromsgrove keeper Akos Onodi and slotting into an empty net.

It could have been worse for the Rouslers at the break only for Glover to inexplicably fire against the crossbar with the goal at his mercy before Callum Coyle was denied by Onodi.

And after Tyler Little’s free-kick had struck the woodwork for Rushall again – the home side would score their third goal just minutes later.

Mitchell doubled his tally for the game on 55 minutes when he combined neatly with Reid again before shooting underneath Onodi to all but seal the points.

New Sporting arrival Zac Guinan was introduced just one minute after Rushall’s third and almost made an immediate impact when his header was saved by Pics keeper Tom Palmer.

However, Rushall extended their lead on 72 minutes when Glover’s audacious flick was latched onto by Reid who took the ball beyond Onodi and finished from a tight angle.

Sporting kept battling until the final whistle and got their reward on 78 minutes when Miro Pais’s cross into the box was not properly dealt with allowing Brown to smash home.

Bromsgrove boss Kelly hopes his side can learn from the defeat against a Rushall side who look set to be in the running for promotion this season.

Kelly said: “Their one of the top teams in the league this season – the difference is their team has been together for quite some time.

“We’re going to have to knuckle down and learn from this – it was a tough night for us.”

Sporting are next in action against league leaders Peterborough Sports on Saturday, October 23 with kick-off at 3pm at the Victoria Ground.
