CONNOR Taylor’s second-half equaliser ensured Bromsgrove Sporting earned a credible 1-1 draw against promotion-chasing Tamworth at the Victoria Ground on Tuesday night.

Taylor levelled the game on 55 minutes when he tapped home from close range after Jack Thomas had opened the scoring for the visitors on 16 minutes.

The draw means Bromsgrove now sit 14th in the Southern League Premier Central table – just one point above the relegation zone.

Tamworth made a fast start and scored the game’s first goal when Thomas’ cross from the left looped over Sporting goalkeeper Akos Onodi and into the top corner.

The Rouslers responded with a chance of their own when Jourdain Masidi volleyed inches wide from Demetri Brown’s cross.

And after Tamworth’s Ryan Beswick sent a free-kick from a good position over the crossbar Sporting scored their equaliser.

New signing Jamie Molyneux produced some fine work out wide before finding Taylor who applied the simplest of finishes from inside the six-yard box.

Molyneux almost scored the winner soon after when his header was superbly tipped over the crossbar by Tamworth keeper Jasbir Singh

An acrobatic effort from Tamworth’s Alex Jones went over in injury-time as Sporting held on to secure an impressive point.

Bromsgrove are in FA Trophy first round action this weekend as they host Morpeth Town on Saturday, November 13 with kick-off at 3pm at the Victoria Ground.
