IN-FORM Sally Hogan secured victory at the Gloucestershire Cross Country League third round meeting at Pittville Park in Cheltenham.

Newly-crowned Midland Women’s Cross Country League Division Two women’s champion Hogan impressed as she led the way for Bromsgrove & Redditch Athletic Club on a superb course which had everything including sharp climbs, water jump, mud and grassland.

Hogan secured victory on Saturday in a time of 26.30, but she was chased hard by Hilary Mott of Cheltenham who clocked 26.38.

Fellow B&R runners Tamara Freeman and Charlotte Ball finished 14th and 85th respectively in a field of 129 as the team secured seventh position.

The B&R men were led home by Kevin Fisher in 33rd place. He was followed by team-mates Andrew Freeman (40th), Kevin Lanckham (81st), Ian Keyte (106th) and Ian Nutter (128th) as the masters team finished fourth out of 16 teams.

Robert Humphries, who has now move to Staffordshire, ran his last race for B&R before joining new club Rugeley Runners.

Humphries was the only B&R runner to take part in the Rugeley ten-mile race and performed well on an undulating course to finish 41st in 1.08.52.

The next race is the National Cross Country Championships being held at Parliament Hill, London.
