A LACK of match experience was Bromsgrove Tennis Club’s Men’s G Team’s undoing as they were thumped 4-0 in their first match of the season.

This year Bromsgrove have decided to enter an extra team into the winter leagues to give more members the opportunity to play competitive tennis.

But that side, which featured debutants Dan Andrews, Rob Kindon and Mark Wilson as well as captain Martin German, had a tough afternoon on Sunday.

Despite some tight contests, which included a couple of tie breaks, their inexperience of competitive games showed as Worcester H ran out comfortable winners in the Division 12 clash.

Captain German said: “The whole team has learnt a lot about match play today and the need to close out winning positions.

“I’m sure as we get more experience we will prove a force to be reckoned with.”

Meanwhile, the Men’s C Team saw a welcome return to form of Pete Morris and Jack Walters on Sunday.

After a disappointing opening match they teamed up with John Dudek and Alistair Liddle to trounce Cutnall Green A Team 4-0 in Division Six.

Morris and Walters strolled to two easy two set victories, while Dudek and Liddle also won both but were pushed to two sets in their opening clash as the team took the maximum ten points on offer.

Captain Dudek said: “After slipping up in our opening match we showed today what we are capable of and I expect us to challenge for promotion.”
