BROMSGROVE Ladies enjoyed a hat-trick of wins over the weekend in the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Winter League.
Leading the way was the Ladies A in Division One who trounced local rivals Droitwich A 4-0.
A win for Bromsgrove was essential to maintain their title hopes and it could not have gone better for the team of Sally Franks with Tina Manning and Jilly Witcomb with Veronika Kumherova who did not drop a single set.
The victory puts Bromsgrove in third just behind Worcester A and leaders Stourbridge A.
Captain Franks said: “A brilliant performance by the team today has closed the gap at the top of the table, meaning it’s all to play for in the final matches.”
Not to be outdone were the Ladies C in Division Four East as they also won 4-0 without dropping a set against Cutnall Green B.
The experienced pairs of Joan McGregor with Lynne Wooley and Ann Banner with Debbie Oliver discovered the form which had eluded them earlier in the season to rack up a great victory.
The Ladies D team though, had a tougher encounter as they secured a 5-4 set victory to move to the top of the table.
Each pair of Beccy Smith with Lorraine Russell and Marie Hackett with Anne Simper had a win and a loss against the in-form first Wall Heath pair.
However, the opening three-set battle by Smith and Russell secured the extra set win.
After the victory captain Connie Wedelich said: “This close win was critical to our promotion campaign and a real boost to our chances.
“We’re looking forward to the final matches to cement our place at the top.”
The Men’s E team also claimed victory as they ran out 3-1 winners against Pershore B in Division Eight East to go top of the table but it was not such good news for the Men’s C team as they lost 3-1 to promotion chasing Wall Heath B in Division Five East.
