BROMSGROVE Ladies E eased to a 5-1 victory over Blakedown in Division Eight East of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Summer League.
The first pair of Claire Hancock with Di Horton started slowly, going 5-0 down in their first set.
A gritty performance ensured they gradually took control before coming back to win the opening set and then the second to earn a great opening victory.
They then followed this up with a two-set victory in the next rubber.
Hancock and Horton were well supported by Sue Corfield with Bella Bracknall who also won both their rubbers comfortably in two sets.
The new pairing of Sue Murray with Annabelle Whitmore had an encouraging start, winning a rubber but losing the other to give Bromsgrove a 5-1 win.
There was also a 5-1 victory for the Men’s D team over Hallow B in Division Six East.
John Dudek and Dave Brace turned round a 5-1 deficit in their opening set to win 7-5 and then won the second to take the first rubber.
They then faced a long battle in the second rubber before eventually running out winners in three sets to claim a vital victory.
At first pair Brian Taylor with Trevor Errington had a tough opening contest against the Hallow first pair but won in three sets, taking the final set 6-2.
They then beat the Hallow second pair in two sets.
The new pairing of Dan Andrews with Tom Round opened with a good two-set win but went down against the Hallow first pair.
The 5-1 win lifts Bromsgrove into second place in the table.
Elsewhere, the Men’s E team moved to the summit of the Division Nine East table with a 4-2 victory over Fladbury.
Two strong performances by Charlie Tait with Isaac Bridge gave Bromsgrove the edge in a tight contest.
The pairs of Mark Wilson with Mark Hudson and Barry Ross with Rob Kindon each won a rubber to give Bromsgrove the victory.
