Griffiths praises 'outstanding' tennis aces

HEAD coach James Griffiths hailed an ‘outstanding’ summer as Bromsgrove Tennis Club’s juniors ruled the roost with a series of superb showings.

Patrick Niedzwiedz and Imogen Sinclair were the pick of the bunch as they landed a hat-trick of titles at the County Closed Championships.

There was also double success for Niedzwiedz in the league campaign as he and Isaac Bridge teamed up to help the 9Us and 10Us win their respective titles, while 12U boys also came out on top.

One of the most impressive team displays came from the 8Us – the youngest group at the club – as Toby Ward, Matthew Bevin, Sam Hart, Maya Hart and Bella Gray won their league and were unbeaten.

But Griffiths said he was proud of all the players’ efforts as a number of other junior members collected silverware and progressed to the senior ranks.

“The league results were outstanding and then for the club to win at least one title in every age group at the County Championships is the real icing on the cake at the end of an outstanding summer,” he said.

“Many of our juniors have progressed into the senior teams and have helped them to a successful season as well.

“There’s a great bunch of junior players of all abilities so everyone can have a fun time playing tennis at a level that suits.

“My team of coaches, Matt Kirkham and Jaspal Saimbi, have put in a lot of work to support me and the players and the results speak for themselves.”
