TIM Flowers praised Bromsgrove Sporting’s ‘unbelievable spirit’ after the Rouslers claimed a vital 2-0 victory against St Ives Town in a relegation six-pointer.
Goals either side of half time from Theo Robinson and Luke Benbow, the latter scoring from the penalty spot, earned the Rouslers just a third away win of the season at Westwood Road.
The result means Sporting sit 18th in the Southern League Premier Central table, four points clear of the relegation zone with two matches left to play.
However, despite the win, Flowers stressed Sporting still have work to do in their remaining fixtures this season.
Flowers said: “It’s a massive result for us but it doesn’t mean anything if we go an get beat in the last two games and something happens elsewhere.
“The spirit has been unbelievable, you’d have thought we were in the top-five not the bottom five.
“I know they’re giving me and the club everything they’ve got, all the plaudits go to the boys.
“The magnitude of the game for both teams was huge. Whoever lost, I saw their boys, they looked crestfallen.
“The bottom line was the result and the coin dropped on our side.”
Bromsgrove broke the deadlock three minutes before half time when Robinson looped a header over former Sporting goalkeeper
Ollie Taylor and into the net from Jack Kelly’s free-kick.
And the visitors doubled their lead from the penalty spot eight minutes from time as Benbow fired home from 12-yards after substitute Shay Willock drew a foul in the box.
Bromsgrove are next in action against Stratford Town on Saturday, April 18 with kick-off at 3pm at the Arden Garages Stadium.
