TIM Flowers admits Bromsgrove Sporting have three games ‘to save their season’ with the club just one point above the relegation zone following successive defeats over the Easter period.
Sporting lost 2-0 at home against Halesowen Town at the Victoria Ground on Easter Monday following a 1-0 defeat at Needham Market at Bloomfields on Good Friday.
The results leave Bromsgrove just one point and one place above the Southern League Premier Central relegation zone with three matches left to play.
And Flowers admits his side may need to take a more direct approach following the defeat against Halesowen.
Flowers said: “We were miles off in the first half. The first goal is abject, it’s such a poor goal.
“The alarm bells were there from the first goal, it’s just bog standard Step Three [football].
“The second half, we’re two-nil down, the stable doors opened and the horses ran out.
“All of a sudden, people are strolling around like Franz Beckenbauer all over the gaff.
“All we did is get the ball and put it in behind them. I got sacked at Solihull Moors for playing like that.
“It’s brutal. We’ve got the armory in the squad to do it. I’ve tried to evolve a little bit and play a bit of football.
“They put it in behind us in the first half and we made mistakes.
“We’ve got three games left and we’ve got to start playing the division and playing the level and man up in the first 20 minutes.
“We’ve got to stop giving people head starts because you give yourself a mountain to climb.
“We’ve got three games to save our souls and save our place in the division this season.”
Sporting suffered a home defeat against play-off contenders Halesowen as early goals from Jordan Ponticelli and former Rouslers favourite Jason Cowley inflicted defeat on the Rouslers.
The Yeltz took the lead on 13 minutes when Ponticelli finished from close range after Rory Brown could only parry Cowley’s curling effort from the left edge of the penalty area.
And the visitors doubled their lead two minutes later as Sporting’s all-time top goalscorer Cowley curled an unstoppable shot into the top-left corner from 12-yards out.
Bromsgrove are next in action against St Ives Town on Saturday, April 11 with kick-off at 3pm at Westwood Road.
