FOOTBALL - Taylor the hero for Sporting at Hednesford

BROMSGROVE Sporting striker Mikey Taylor continued his fine form after he scored the Rouslers winner at Hednesford Town in midweek having netted an equaliser against Basford United last weekend.

Taylor scored a 68th minute winner at Hednesford with Miro Pais and Ryan Edmunds also on target as the home side finished the game with nine-men at Keys Park.

That came after Taylor’s 79th minute strike rescued a point for Sporting against Basford at the Victoria Ground.

The results leave Sporting in ninth place in the Southern League Premier Central table.

Former Premier League striker Leroy Lita opened the scoring on 18 minutes before Pais equalised on the half-hour mark after he capitalised on a slip in the Hednesford defence.

And Edmunds completed the turnaround on 52 minutes with a fine finish across goal into the bottom right corner only for Joe Cuff to restore parity on 59 minutes with a powerful shot into the roof of the net.

However, Taylor popped up with the game-winning goal when he blasted home from close range before Mason Birch and Kyle Bennett were both dismissed for Hednesford late on.

And Taylor helped Sporting pick up a point last weekend as his goal cancelled out Anthony Dwyer’s opener.

Sporting travel to Kings Langley on Saturday, October 1 with kick-off at 3pm at the Orbital Fasteners Stadium.
